Friday Nite Live opened its curtains for the very first time on Friday, Sept. 11 at the Shell Nigeria Hall of the MUSON Centre with NNB, a remarkable professional music band led by Michael (Drummer) and Ola (Guitarist). The Band, a 7-piece featured two vocalists; Titilola Oloyede and Emmanuel Okwuagwu and bassist; Femi Ajayi. They performed works off their new Ise Ise Mukan album and for a moment there, i thought i was listening to a recording. The music was mature, organized, rich and entertaining. The Band featured Philip Uzo, an A-list guitarist and music Director for the Nigerian Idol, as usual, he dazzled with his notes, rhythm and 'fill ins'. Victor Odetunde, a professional jazz pianist and saxophonist held it down with his rich chords and changes on the keys. See more photos after the cut...
NNB and some other acts joined forces to make it a September to Remember. Debbie Soul, our fast rising contemporary vocalist, a recent graduate from the MUSON School of Music opened the Mic with so much energy and soul as she sang through the lines of Paul McCartney's & Rihanna's Four, Five Seconds and Sam Smith's Not the Only One. Lanre also performed Summertime gracefully. Fatima as usual, dazzled with her subtly piercing voice while Guchi once again left his audience asking for more. Perpie, (saxophonist) displayed her sweetness and richness in tone as she performed Kirk Whalum's Sunday's Best, Alicia Keys' If I Ain't Got You and Asa's Jailer (instrumentals). She was accompanied by a strong musical force from the MUSON School of Music. Johnson Adenuga (Piano), Timothy Ogunbiyi (Piano), Oladimeji Adelaja (Trumpet), Ita Samson (Bass), Tombrapade Robert (Drums) and Nomnso Diali (Guitar). They gave an incredible account of their skills. Omni, a very interesting and cheerful comedian, infected the audience and cracked them up with decent and funny jokes. One could not help laughing at his jokes. Tunde Sosan, our Resident Pianist also dished out a Schumann's piece of romantic music. he show was compered by two of UniLag Radio hosts, Tolu and his Co-Host. K-Peace, our Fujirembee artist and winner of the recently concluded Nigerian Idol, rapped up the show with 'All of Me', Fuji Version by popular demand.
