The first edition of the show which took place at the Shell Hall of the Muson Centre on Friday, September 11, was an opportunity for Perpetual Atife (Perpie) to shine bright with radiant tunes from her saxophone which she handled deftly to the delight of the many guests from all walks of life in attendance.

Friday Nite Live Series #1 with NNB, the Band of Pros

Friday Nite Live opened its curtains for the very first time on Friday, Sept. 11 at the Shell Nigeria Hall of the MUSON Centre with NNB, a remarkable professional music band led by Michael (Drummer) and Ola (Guitarist). The Band, a 7-piece featured two vocalists; Titilola Oloyede and Emmanuel Okwuagwu and bassist; Femi Ajayi. They performed works off their new Ise Ise Mukan album and for a moment there, i thought i was listening to a recording. The music was mature, organized, rich and entertaining. The Band featured Philip Uzo, an A-list guitarist and music Director for the Nigerian Idol, as usual, he dazzled with his notes, rhythm and 'fill ins'. Victor Odetunde, a professional jazz pianist and saxophonist held it down with his rich chords and changes on the keys. See more photos after the cut...

The Power of Art

As shared on CNN

(CNN)Bruce Lee, a beer parlor in Lagos and a triumphant dance on mud -- sometimes the strangest of combinations can help produce the most spectacular of results.
Back in 1973, Lemi Ghariokwu was straight out of secondary school, spending his ample free time giving himself drawing assignments and making portraits for people in his neighborhood. Martial arts action film "Enter the Dragon," starring Bruce Lee, was a big hit at the time, and Ghariokwu was asked by a local bar owner to draw a poster of the movie for his pub.

8 Days to Go! Who composed the Pink Panther theme?

The Pink Panther is a series of comedy films featuring an inept French police detective, Inspector Jacques Clouseau. The series began with the release of The Pink Panther(1963). The role of Clouseau was originated by, and is most closely associated with, Peter Sellers. Most of the films were directed and co-written by Blake Edwards, with theme music composed by Henry Mancini.

Enrico Nicola "Henry" Mancini (April 16, 1924 – June 14, 1994) was an American composer, conductor and arranger, who is best remembered for his film and television scores. Often cited as ONE of the greatest composers in the history of film, he won four Academy Awards, a Golden Globe, and twenty Grammy Awards, plus a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995.
His best known works include the jazz-idiom theme to The Pink Panther film series ("The Pink Panther Theme") and the theme to the Peter Gunn television series. The Peter Gunn theme won the first Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Mancini also had a long collaboration on film scores with the film director Blake Edwards. Please see another pix below
