Featuring as the main act on the Friday Nite Live Series #1 is the very musical Michael Oloyede, a drummer with a sense and drive for excellence.
He is also facilitating the Drum Clinic, a workshop for intermediate and advanced drummers on Saturday, September 12 at the MUSON School of Music.
Abiola Michael Oloyede is a top-notch drummer and drum technician who has carved a niche for himself in studio recordings and live performances. He has been in active practice for close to two decades and has since worked on several sessions that cut across jazz, R&B, rock and African traditional beats. He teaches drums and currently runs a Drum School, Harmonix Drum Villa, for people of all ages and manages a vibrant music accessories and sound reinforcement company, Harmonix Music, Lagos.
The vivacious drummer has played with artistes of great repute such as Lagbaja, Marcus Miller, Bobby Ricketts & Tony Bunn, David Baroni, Bob Fitts, Kaline, Chinaza, Ayetoro and many more, and is a great advocate for hard work, integrity, honour and love for God. He displays great aptitude for excellence in all he does.
He has performed on several platforms and venues such as the AACW Blues & Jazz festival, OH; MUSIC ON THE LAGOON, Lagos Nigeria, The MUSON JAZZ FESTIVAL, LAGOS INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL, and FEST AFRICA, Silver spring, MD; NEW ORLEANS JAZZ & HERITAGE FESTIVAL, New Orleans, LA; FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE LOUISIANE, Lafayette, LA; LEAF FESTIVAL, NC; B.B. KING BLUES CLUB, NY; THE HOUSE OF BLUES, Dallas, TX; THE HOWARD THEATRE, Washington, DC to mention a few.
A Sound Engineer, composer and arranger whose interests span through playing of string instruments and bass guitar. Abiola coordinates several bands including A-cubed jazz, NNB and a host of others. Presently, he is the music director at RCCG – Dayspring, Ikeja, Lagos.
Abiola Oloyede studied Computer Science at Yaba College of Technology and music at MUSON Diploma School and Berklee College of Music, USA.
He recently released his band, NNB's debut album titled "Ise Ise Mu Kan", an experimental project that blends pop sound with Nigerian groove beats. He also holds down the groove for the Iconic Nigeria Musician, LAGBAJA, with whom he toured over 14 cities in the United States of America about 3 months ago.
